MINISTRIES: Flower Guild
Flower Guild
Enhancing the beauty of the Lord’s Table, the work of the St. James Flower Guild is tireless and breathtaking. The seasonal arrangements complement the altar hangings and cross, as well as the intellectual and emotive experience of worship in God’s church.
During regular Sunday services, the flowers at the altar are given to the glory of God, and parishioners often dedicate the Sunday service flowers in memory, honor, thanksgiving or celebration of loved ones or special occasions, such as birthdays or anniversaries.
The flower guild makes an extra effort for Holy Days, often working as much as three days and evenings to prepare the church, narthex and parish hall for celebrations with breathtaking arrangements.
The flower guild is a creative ministry and a thoughtful one. The reredos arrangements are reworked after the service to make smaller arrangements that brighten the days of parish members in the hospital or otherwise unable to attend services or in need of prayer.
