A Note From Father Rob
The other day, when I was in the church all by myself, I had occasion to go to the downstairs of the building. You know, the inner sanctum where St. James ministries abound. While down there, I visited the Pottery Guild room, and you will never guess what I found.
It looked like Santa’s workshop! There were cups, containers, Christmas trees, plates and vessels of all kinds and shapes in every state of completion. I dare say, I believe there are more people making pottery for our Annual Bazaar than there have ever been in the 13, or so, years we have been doing this.
But I know these people aren’t the only ones working away on crafts for our annual event. Folks from all over our parish are busy preparing for our yearly outreach fundraiser, which provides us thousands of dollars for the support of various ministries in our church, in the community and beyond.
If you would like to help, but crafts aren’t your thing, there will soon be an opportunity to prepare some goodies from the convenience of your own kitchen. The sale of food and baked goods from our kitchen is a huge part of our event revenues, and we always seem to sell out.
So, if you are already hard at work, I applaud you and appreciate all you are doing. If you have not yet had the chance to do something for the bazaar, your chance is coming. More news about that will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead. But for now, let me thank you in advance for your willingness to help out. Working together for the benefit of those Jesus calls us to help is one of the best parts of our faith community.
May the blessings of our Lord be with you all, Rob+
