A Note From Father Rob

Is God fair? That’s a good question. Perhaps ‘just’ might be a better word to use, or ‘forgiving,’ because God certainly is those things. But fair, I’m not sure.

We, as a 21st century society, seem to be obsessed with fairness. Some believe that to be fair every person should have access to the same things to which every other person has access. Is that right, or even possible?

Is it enough that others have equal and fair opportunity or is equal and fair opportunity just a pipe dream? What does Scripture have to say about what is fair and what is right, what is just and what is unjust?

This Sunday, we will look at Jesus’ parable of the workers in the vineyard and the generous landowner. We’ll ponder what it means to be ‘fair’ and ‘just’, surmising whether they are the same or distinctly different. What Jesus has to say about it may surprise you.

Come, listen, pray, partake and consider what God is doing in your life and in our lives together at St. James.
