A Note From Father Rob
It was about 10 years ago that Jennifer James, our church administrator, came to work for us. Born and raised in Alex City, Jennifer had been working for a local bank when family demands required that she take a part time job instead. She heard about the opening at St. James from a friend.
I interviewed Jennifer and was happy to hire her, as the office work was starting to pile up. Jennifer took to the work quickly, and it looked like my prayers had been answered. That’s when she told me she was pregnant and would soon need a month’s maternity leave. However, once we got past that happy bump in the road, I found my prayers had been answered.
For those of you who do not know Jennifer, I will tell you she is the nicest and sweetest person I have ever met. She always greets people with a smile and happy voice no matter what is happening in her own life or at home with her husband, DJ, or her two children, Abby and Wes. Jennifer is very capable, hardworking and a pleasure to speak with. In addition to creating our weekly service bulletins, depositing the weekly plates and pledges and generating every report we ever need, she also is always willing to help those who come in the office or call on the phone no matter how busy she is. We are indeed very fortunate to have her on the St. James staff.
Each Christmas, I put a small gift box in the parish hall, with a slit in the top of it, so those who wish to do so might show their gratitude to Jennifer by contributing to her Christmas bonus. If you feel so inclined, please bring a little cash, or a check, to church this Sunday and place it in the box for Jennifer. It is a great way for us to show her how much we appreciate all she does for us and our parish.
As we enter into the last week of Advent, I am pleased to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and the most joyous of New Years.
Peace, Rob+
