A Note From Father Rob

This Sunday morning promises to be a brisk one. In fact, we have cancelled the 8 a.m. service for Sunday, the 9 a.m. Sunday school class and postponed our annual meeting. In a week of below-freezing temperatures, this weekend’s early morning temperatures just might be some of the lowest. No doubt, that will keep some of you from coming to church at all, and I can’t really say I blame you!

These kinds of temperatures can be difficult to deal with: Your car doors or locks may be frozen; your driveway might be icy; water pipes might freeze and break; trees and branches can tumble; power can go out. Any number of things can go wrong when the thermometer reads 16 degrees (before even considering wind chill). If you find yourself in a situation like any of these or others, I want you to know you can call on your Church family.

Any number of us can come and get you; take you to the store or doctor’s office; bring you groceries; turn off the water at your meter; get your car doors open; or even help get you and your car out of a ditch. You don’t have to try to tough it out or call on family that lives miles and miles away. We are your family, and we are here to help.

So, don’t be apprehensive about calling me (256-794-5103) if you find yourself in a freezing fix as these temperatures continue to fall. If I can’t help you, we will find someone who can. We just want everyone to be safe. So, please be careful and remember that we are here for each other.

Stay warm and God bless. Rob+
