Spring Forward
Over these many decades of my spiritual journey, I find that the simplest phrases become theological reflections.
SPRING FORWARD has made me ponder its meaning for my life.
Of course, this is our annual reminder to set our clocks ahead one hour (this weekend) to begin Daylight Savings Time.
But as I am still wandering in my Lenten wilderness, lamenting my inability to adhere to some of my Lenten disciplines, SPRING FORWARD urges me to receive God’s forgiveness and start anew. After all, my little Benedictine Way of Living book Always We Begin Again reminds me that every day is a new day to renew my Rule of Life.
SPRING FORWARD encourages me to reflect on hope – the hope of the new life that Spring brings and the hope of the Resurrection which brings new life to our very soul.
SPRING FORWARD also for me is a call to action – to live into Jesus’ call to follow Him, to love and to serve, to overcome evil with good, to advocate for the marginalized and forgotten.
So as we move our clocks ahead this weekend, may we remember that we are moving forward, day by day, to a deeper, richer, brighter, fresher life with Jesus, called to spring into action wherever He may lead us.
Thanks be to God,
