A Note From Father Rob

This is such a great time of year in the church for me. Another successful bazaar has passed, Sunday school is wrapping up for the Fall, the long green season of Pentecost is coming to an end and along with it, another church calendar year has come and gone.

We will soon start the season of Advent, the time of anticipation. This year, during this time prior to Christmas, we are offering two opportunities for personal contemplation and growth.

On the three Wednesdays in Advent (normally there are four but this year the last Sunday in Advent is Christmas Eve) we will host Advent Afternoon Tea, an opportunity for fellowship and reflection. At these afternoon gatherings (2:00 pm) we will drink some warm beverages, share some light snacks and consider what God might be saying to us in the new year.

Also, we will make available, to those of you who like to use a daily devotional, an Advent offering entitled ‘Preparing the Way; Christian practices for Advent’. This publication comes to us from Forward Movement, the people who bring us the daily devotionals, Forward Day by Day.

I hope you will join us on Wednesdays during Advent for fellowship and reflection and daily in our personal reflections of the season. Sounds like a great way to prepare for Christmas to me!

Happy Thanksgiving and God bless, Rob+
