A Note From Father Rob
As I am sure most of you know, I have been away this week. Betsy and I returned to her family home to gather with her siblings and their families, that we might celebrate the life and death of Betsy’s 100-year-old mother, Jane Fenwick.
When I met Jane, she was already in her 70s and had recently been widowed. Jane was a wonderful mother-in-law, who was never anything but kind and friendly. She had quite a sense of humor and was always very independent. But life had not always been easy. Raising 13 children, one of them handicapped, in a modest Midwestern home was far from idyllic. Yet, in the end, her life experience taught her the ultimate importance of family, and she passed that lesson on to all of her children and grandchildren.
The Good News today is that God has given us families and friends to love, to share, to care for and to sojourn with as we make our way through this pilgrimage that is our lives. Let us celebrate the grace and mercy given us by our Lord with all those we love and journey with on this Earth; that we might all live rich and fulfilling lives.
Peace my friends, Rob+
