A Note From Father Rob

The Good New’s today is that spring has sprung! No doubt you have noticed that absolutely EVERYTHING is covered in yellow dust. The dogwoods are blooming; the spring flowers are rising; the weeds are growing tall; and the fire ants are, well, mounding.

That can only mean Holy Week is very, very close. In fact, Palm Sunday is little more than a week away. All this week, there will be people, and groups of people, helping to get the church ready for the big week. In fact, the Saturday before Palm Sunday, April 12, we will have a church-wide cleaning day, headed up by our very own Junior Warden Randy Adair and all of his many assistant junior wardens.

We will have cleaning tools and gardening tools available for use with any number of tasks you might take on at the church; however, if you have some favorites tools, you might want to bring them. Things we need done outside are cleaning the flower beds, trimming the bushes, light pressure washing at entries, putting out pine straw and such. Inside projects include a good cleaning of the kitchen for Lenten Lunches, steam cleaning the parish hall carpet, polish and clean woodwork on pews and in nave, AC filter replacement, light bulb replacement and other such things.

This is our once-a-year parish-wide cleaning effort, so let’s get St. James looking good for our impending Easter celebration. Thanks be to God… and thanks to all of you!
