Waiting….
Why do we Americans find waiting so difficult? Waiting in lines, waiting on hold (your call is very important to us……..), waiting for a diagnosis, waiting for news of a loved one….
Often we become impatient or anxious, wanting results or answers more quickly.
Yet waiting can be a time of growth, like a seed planted in the dark, damp soil, growing quietly until it is time to emerge and bloom.
We know that our liturgical season of Advent is a season of waiting, a season of preparation for the joy that is to come, the Incarnation, the birth of Jesus.
Our Advent wreath holds the four candles representing hope, peace, joy, and love. Our tradition lights a new candle each week of the Four Sundays in Advent. This Sunday is the First Sunday in Advent.
The Advent Devotional from the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem offers daily meditations on these four themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. Click here to download the file.
Father Rob and Senior Warden Kristy ordered for the congregation an Advent devotional, “Preparing the Way”. The sign up list is in the parish hall.
Father Rob and I invite you to Advent Afternoon Tea where we can enjoy fellowship and conversation, to ponder this season of waiting and God’s presence in our lives. We would love to share this time with you on the Wednesdays of Advent, December 6, 13, and 20, at 2pm in the Sunday School Room (next to the library).
Advent Blessings, Judy Q+
